Position Summary
The Traffic Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to the Traffic Manager and transportation team. This role is responsible for accurate data entry, maintaining transportation records, coordinating communication between customers, vendors, and internal departments, and ensuring timely updates related to shipments and transportation activities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Clerical Support
Provide daily administrative support to the Traffic Manager and transportation department.
Prepare, maintain, and file transportation documents, shipping records, and reports.
Assist with scheduling, routing documentation, and transportation-related correspondence.
Maintain organized records and ensure documentation accuracy and compliance.
Data Entry & Reporting
Accurately enter shipment, freight, carrier, and customer information into company systems.
Update transportation management systems (TMS), spreadsheets, and databases with timely information.
Generate, compile, and distribute reports related to transportation activities and performance metrics.
Review data for completeness and accuracy, correcting discrepancies as needed.
Customer Service Support
Serve as a point of contact for customers regarding shipment status, delivery updates, and transportation inquiries.
Respond to customer requests professionally and promptly.
Communicate delays, changes, or issues affecting deliveries and work toward timely resolution.
Maintain positive customer relationships through effective communication and follow-up.
